How to Use Add/Remove Image Feature? •

Hextom: Bulk Image Edit enables you to easily add or remove images from your existing media library. From the app dashboard or sidebar menu, select Add/Remove Image. You will be redirected to the task setup page.

Step 1: Select  theType of Images to Edit and Apply Filter Conditions

Choose Product Images as the image type you want to edit. After selecting the image type, apply filter conditions to match products.

  • Preview matching products to verify selections.
  • Add additional filters as needed.

Step 2: Choose Your Task

Select the task you want to perform:

Adding an Image

Example: Suppose you want to add a Blue Shirt image to your “T-Shirt” products so customers know you are selling Blue-colored shirts. There are currently two images on your product, and you want to add an image to the 3rd position.

  1. Choose add an image.
  2. Upload your image file.
  3. Select the position where the image should be placed.
  4. Click Start Bulk Editing.

In Shopify Admin, image position refers to the order of images in the Media section of the product page.

When the task finishes, the Blue Shirt image will be added to your “T-Shirt” products and appear at the specified position:

Notes:

  • Supported image formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP
  • If you select a position that is higher than the current image count (for example, 5th position when only 2 images exist), the uploaded image will be added as the last image.

Removing an Image at a Specified Position

Suppose there is an unnecessary image in the product's media files. You may specify a position from which the task will remove images:

  1. Select Remove Images at the Following Positions.
  2. Enter the position number of the image you want to remove.
  3. Click Start Bulk Editing.

Note: You can also remove multiple images at once by clicking Select Additional Images and entering more positions.

Example: I want to remove the 2nd image in the Media section since there is no Pink variant in my product, so I will set the position to 2nd.

Once the task completes, the specified images will be removed:

If a product doesn’t have an image at a specified position, that product will be skipped.

Remove Images with file names containing a keyword

With this option, images will be removed if their file names contain any of the specified keywords.

  1. Select Remove Images with Filenames Containing.
  2. Enter the keyword.
  3. Click Start Bulk Editing.

Example: Suppose you want to remove images with file names containing "Blue" now that you're removing the Blue variant from the product.

You can set up the task as follows:

Once the task completes, the specified images will be removed:

Removing Duplicated Images

If you find multiple copies of the same image across products, you can use this task to remove duplicates.

  1. Select Removing Duplicated Images.
  2. Click Start Bulk Editing.

Example: You see that there are duplicate images in your product, and you want to remove them, leaving only one image.

You can set up the task as follows:

The app will scan for images that are pixel-identical to others and automatically remove the duplicates.

Once completed, you can confirm that duplicated images have been removed from your products:
